Today’s Memory

Sometimes the hardest part of the day is just getting started!  Today was supposed to be a long run of 10 miles and my thought was to get started at seven so I could have part of the day left to enjoy.  Well, it was 31 degrees and the bed was too warm and my weather app on the phone said it would be 35 degrees at nine so back to sleep I went….until 9:15!  Didn’t started running until after 10…probably more information then you ever wanted to know so thanks for bearing with me.

Attached is the picture of Town Lake where I often go for my long runs.  It has a 1.2 mile loop and is very scenic with fountains, ducks, geese, trees, etc.  It seems so peaceful doesn’t it!  Well…NOT TODAY!  This Sunday there were howling, cold winds, mountainous climbs and screaming fowl attacking people for bits of bread.  Well, for the first hour of the run anyway.  After that I seemed to feel better and was able to enjoy all that was going on around me.  I had two favorite memories during the run.  The first was of a little girl (maybe two years old) laughing hysterically as she ran away from her Dad down the path.  Her laugh reminded me of my girls when they were that age….just a wonderful, joyous sound.  I also saw a family riding their bikes on the trail during my last lap around the lake.  It made me chuckle to remember the time Ashley rode her bike around the lake and was bombed from above by one of the flying ducks….it might not be as funny a memory to her 🙂

Have a great week!
